ATV's or 'All Terrain Vehicles', that's where it all started. First of all we had the trikes, which were great fun and quite practical compared to other terrain vehicles that were then on the market.  ATV's (this includes trikes and quads) are truly multi-purpose multi terrain vehicles. For recreational purposes, they are hard to beat, for exhilaration, pure recreation and thrills. You can take your ATV up on your local hills, or on a sandy beach or trial riding area and enjoy a great time.
Your skills develop increasingly with more use, and you get to know your ATV's handling limitations, so you know how far to push your vehicle. Some ATV professional events and competitions are coming to the fore. Take it as far as you wish.
Many ATV owners use their ATV for weekend trial riding/driving - a great fun release from a weeks work. However, maybe your main reason for wanting an ATV is purely practical, possibly you work on a farm or similiar location, where you need to quickly get around with the minimum fuss and the maximum safety. The modern day shepherd is quite likely to jump on his ATV to round up the sheep. There are quad models especially designed and produced for the modern farmer.
